The Joy of Spring and a Fresh Start for Your Garden (and Shed!)

There’s nothing quite like the magic of spring.

The sunshine, the promise of longer, warmer days, and the flowers bursting into bloom,  it lifts the spirit and brings our gardens back to life after a long winter.   One of life’s simplest but greatest pleasures is sitting on a bench, feeling the warmth of the sun on your face, and taking in a beautiful, vibrant garden.

For those lucky enough to have outdoor space, spring brings endless opportunities and a gentle reminder that our gardens need a little TLC from us too.

Even if you don’t have your own garden, we’re fortunate to live in a country filled with parks and green spaces where everyone can enjoy nature’s new season.

Spring in the Garden: Where to Begin

Spring is the time to refresh, plant, and prepare for months of enjoyment. Here are a few simple jobs to get your garden off to a great start:

🌱 Feed young potted plants
 🌿 Mulch your beds
 🌷 Divide your bulbs
 🌼 Deadhead daffodils
 🌳 Prune winter-stemmed shrubs
 💧 Water seedlings and young plants
 ✂️ Mow your lawn — but keep the mower on the highest setting for the first cut!

Don’t Forget the Shed!

Ah, the garden shed — a true gardener’s haven.

Over time, sheds tend to gather tools, pots, and garden gadgets we once loved but no longer need. If you’re starting to think about moving and rightsizing into a new home, it’s the perfect time to give the shed a good clear-out.

Keeping a few essential tools for your next garden or window boxes is a wonderful idea. But there’s no need to take everything with you — especially those older tools that deserve a second life.
